This website contained information about the activities of the Prospect / CMD London Branches - East & Essex, Central, and West. Until January 2025. The site was intended for members of those branches. Members can still register by filling in the form that will appear if you click on "Create an account", but no new materuial will be added after January 2025. If you are not a Prospect member you can join on line at the main Prospect website.
CMD Branches Closed down
With the continuing reorganising of the union structure the Telecoms Branch was formed by Prospect head office at the behest of the NECNational Executive Committee in January 2025. This followed their closure of all the CMDComputer, Media & Digital branches including those that constituted the Greater London CoordGreater London East & Essex (GLEE), Greater London West (GLOW), Greater London Central (GLOC).
The Future
a national branch and as far as I can see its members are those working in industries associated with telecoms where there is not a specific employer branch (BT for instance). The branch is within the Information Telecom and Technology (IT&T) Sector of Prospect: The union for ambition. The IT&T sector is for "working members and members seeking work in or associated with the telecoms, information and technology industries” according to the sector rules.
Many of the individuals and activist who were in CMD branches across the country have been transferred to this new branch.
The inaugural meeting of the branch has been organised by head office to a M$ teams virtual meeting ion 19th February 2025 at 1pm. Members of the branch should have been sent an invitation from the national secretary with the M$ teams meeting joining information.

Telecoms Branch IGM
Prospect Telecoms Branch Inaugural General Meeting Wednesday 19th February 2025 at 1pm by Teams.
Following a restructure of branches in the IT and Telecoms sector of Prospect an inaugural general meeting will be held for the newly established Telecoms Branch.
What happens at an IGM?
A set of rules, based upon the union’s model branch rules, have been drawn up for the branch and are attached. The meeting will be asked to endorse these rules at the start of the meeting.
A report will be given by the National Secretary on the role and function of the branch within the IT & Telecoms sector.
During the meeting members will elect a branch committee for the year ahead. The roles for nomination are:
- Branch Chair
- Branch Vice-Chair
- Branch Secretary
- Five non-office bearers of the Committee
